Driving license training camp for foreign nationals

外国籍の方の合宿免許【日常会話レベルの日本語が必要】

We will explain the Japanese language level required for foreign nationals to obtain a driver's license in Japan, about training camps for a driver's license, the necessary documents, and driving schools that provide support for foreign nationals.

IMPORTANT BEFORE ENROLLMENT

Required Japanese level

GUIDELINE JLPT N3 level or higher

  • Lessons are generally conducted in Japanese.
You need sufficient speaking and listening skills to understand the instructors, even when foreign-language textbooks are available.
  • Intermediate reading and writing skills are also required.
The provisional license exam is generally given in Japanese, although some schools offer it in other languages.

Please note

  • Some driving schools have stricter requirements.
  • JLPT N3-level ability does not guarantee admission.
  • A simple reading and writing test may be given at enrollment.

The difficulties foreign nationals face when obtaining a driver's license.

If you would like to have a driver's license in Japan, Japanese language is the most important. Many non-native speaker have a hard time to study with teachers who speaks Japanese.

Especially Provisional license exam is too hard to pass one time. You have the extended warranty, however, I don't think it is not enough to foreigners.

If your Japanese speaking and listning are Intermediate, the other curriculum is much beter than Provisional license exam. Even easier, there are all Japanese teachers, I recommend you study words and predicates related to the Road Traffic Act before you will get a school.

What is Driver's license camp in Japan

A driver's license training camp, or "Gasshuku Menkyo" in Japanese, refers to a concentrated period during which individuals stay at accommodation facilities and undergo intensive training in driving skills and theory to obtain a driver's license. In most cases, this training takes place at driving schools located in areas away from where the individual resides.

The training fees, accommodation fees, and meal expenses (if meals are included) are typically all included in the fees stated by "Menkyo no Takumi" as a principle.
